CUBAN TILE

Errez Design's very first project used cuban tiles. We fell in love with the patterns, shapes, colors, and history of these tiles. They have become a staple in our design projects. Cuban tiles are made by hand, one at a time using a mold, mineral pigments, Portland cement and fine aggregate with a manual or electronic hydraulic press. There is no glaze or kiln. Cuban tiles are cured by water and air only –just like ordinary cement.
The metal mold, containing the desired pattern is handmade from specific design drawings. The pigment composition is a mixture of high quality white Portland cement, marble powder, fine sand, and natural mineral color pigments.
Handmade cuban tiles are each unique and are expected to have slight imperfections, which give them character and depth.
This is where our love affair started with the tiles:
We used a variety of colors, sizes, and patterns, to make a tile quilt in this kitchen breakfast room. Some of these tiles were new but most of them were old. Many were reclaimed from past projects. This look only works because the rest of the kitchen is is black and white. All the color is concentrated in this fun nook. After all these years this is still one of our favorite rooms we've ever designed.

Cuban Tiles Go Outside:
We took the tiles in an all new direction in this beach house. The monochromatic color scheme is modern. It looks great juxtaposed with the traditional pattern on the tiles. Cuban tiles can withstand the elements. They are a beautiful material to use outside. Use them on the floor or on the wall.

Cuban Tiles make a grand entrance:
This is still a work in progress and we'll have pro pictures soon. These tiles are from the Errez Design tile line. We designed the line to have the same handcrafted character than the traditional tiles but with modern patterns and colors.
This particular diagonal stripe tiles are very versatile. We used them as a chevron in one room and as a diamond in another.

 Cuban tiles go up-stairs:
These tiles are stunning in this stair. It makes a really subtle graphic in grey and white and transforms this otherwise boring stair.

How do we make these:
Errez Design makes these tiles right here in Miami, Fl. We are currently working on this hounds tooth pattern in black and white. Here are some pictures of the manufacturing process. Call us today if you've been inspired to try these tiles in your project!

  3. Porcelain swimming pool porcelain tile do not require any special treatment. Its daily cleaning could not be easier. You can also clean pool tiles with chemical products, even aggressive ones, because they are resistant to these. Of course, in this case, it is recommended to choose a professional brand.
